It's like that with lots of stuff. Also with yarn, for example. Luckily, my sister lives in the US and sometimes I buy her stuff just for the heck of it. I recently wrote a post about how expensive it is to buy stuff from the Victoria's Secret catalogue. I've also tried the Crate and Barrel catalogue with the same high costs of shipping+import duties.
