Sick, again

I blame wNoodle. He wasn't feeling well when we went to see King Kong (which was great, btw) and then about 6 days later, I am flat on my back with a flu. Friday night I felt kind of funny. Saturday, I woke up with a sore throat and was sneezing a bit. After midnight, I really felt miserable. Sunday, blam. It really hit. Headache, fever, chills, sweats, aches, sneezing and a bit of coughing thrown in for good measure.
I slept for 16 hours from Sunday evening to Monday afternoon and felt okay but when I felt tired, I felt awful again and had to take a nap for about an hour.
Today, I feel a bit better but the sweat is just dripping off me. I don't feel feverish; the headache is a dull ache I can live with, I'm not coughing or sneezing much but I am still stuffed up. I have no energy but feel alert.
My question is: how do I know when I'm better? When am I healthy enough to go back to work?
I can say I feel fine but all I am doing is lying of the sofa watching tv. I haven't tried to do any physical activity beyond showering. Do I go back to work tomorrow with the idea that everything is fine and back to normal and find out when I relapse that I pushed it too soon or do I risk the further wrath of my annoyed sounding manager and give it one more day so that I know am just that much better and that much less contagious?
I hate the guilt involved in callling in sick. I hate the fact that I am so prone to being ill - migraines, food poisoning, flu, you name it. You'd never know it to look at me but I am downright delicate when it comes to my health and always have been. Throw the stress of the upcoming election coverage and new equipment placement at me or even just around me and my health breaks like candy glass.
I hate it.

Oh, and because I missed more than 2 days of work, I have to bring in a doctor's note. I have been too ill to get to a doctor's office. I called my doctor and she can't see me for at least a week. How do you get to a doctor's office when you are too ill to move? How do you convince a doctor when you are finally feeling better, that you were actually too ill to go to work? I don't get it. I really don't. I should just invite my manager over here and sneeze on him a few times and let him write me a note.
