Like Kryptonite
I have been rather successful in avoiding watching the show Heroes. I did start off watching it but my disgust got the better of me when both main female characters had "near rape experiences" as key elements to their developing powers. A writing using the "rape card" on a female character damn well better have an amazing story developed or it is just a cheap and easy way to attack a female character. Needless to say, there was no amazing storyline for the girls on Heroes. Anyhoo, whilst I was puttering about tonight, TBIT watched the season premiere. I wasn't paying attention until they showed the preview for next week. Then, Heroes played dirty pool. They've found one of my weaknesses and are forcing me to watch them now. Yes, Christopher Eccleston is now going to be a regular character. I have loved that man since he played Detective Chief Inspector David Bilborough on Cracker.
Speaking of Kryptonite. We watched the season premeire of Smallville last night. The episode was a cute salute to the JLA in that Supes under took a mission with fellow superheroes. Each had a code name used in the episode some of which were obvious: Oliver Queen was Green Arrow, Arthur Curry was Aquaman, Victor Stone was Cyborg. Bart Allen was called Impulse, his original code name (not yet the second Kid Flash or the fourth Flash), Chloe was called Watchtower and Clark was called, fittingly, Boyscout. The episode was cute but still there was no appearence of the long awaited J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. I'll have to tune in next week when he is supposed to appear. I'll have oreos waiting.
