Migraine
I had a bit of a headache all day Sunday. Nothing terrible, just a bit annoying but completely livable. I forgot to buy Advil and took a couple of extra strength Tylenol to deal with it. Even though Tylenol does next to nothing for my headaches, I figured better than nothing, right? Wrong. I woke up around 3am early Monday morning with a gawd awful migraine. Normally, when I am in pain, I get sleepy. Sleep is my way of dealing with pain. This migraine blasted me out of sleep and sent me staggering to the cabinet looking for anything to dull the pain. My left eyeball felt like there was a steel knitting needle jammed in it while the left eye socket felt like it was trying to squeeze my eyeball out. I had tensed up due to the pain so my neck and shoulders were tight and hunched up. As usual, the top of my head felt like a misplaced chestburster was going to explode out of it. Luckily there was nothing in my stomach so while I heaved a couple of times, I didn't need to throw up. Throwing up with a migraine is a whole new level of pain I am glad I was spared. All I found in the cabinet was Tylenol 3 with codeine. I hate Tylenol 3 with codeine. It does nothing for the pain and just makes me feel stupid and gives me weird dreams. Better than nothing again. So I took a couple, crawled back into bed and gingerly arranged myself to relax as much as I could. I slept badly, woke up with the migraine still and it didn't fade until late Monday evening after sleeping most of Monday away and taking about 5 Advil which TBIT brought home to me. Today I am suffering rebound headaches which, while basically are just annoying, if I don't take care of them can bloom into another migraine.
Oh, and the codeine pills did give me really weird dreams. The one I remember best involved Beluga whales Highland dancing to bagpipe music off the coast of Cape Breton.
