Middle of the Night
It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep. It's a reaction to the Tylenol 3 with codeine. Narcotics are supposed to make you drowsy but I've found they often have the opposite effect on me, they make me wired. Not to say I've taken a lot of narcotics, mind, but the few times I've been prescribed opiate based pills, I take one it makes me drowsy and then the second does the opposite. I took the second Tylenol 3 of the day around 11pm, thinking it would quell the dull ache in my jaw and cheeks and make me sleep. Not the case. So here I am, sitting here typing with one cat on my lap and the other at my feet. TBIT hasn't wandered out looking for me yet which means he must be deeply asleep.
I think I'm going to shelve the Tylenol 3 and go for my old pain relief stand by - 1 regular Tylenol and 1 Advil. Once, when I had a very bad sore throat that wasn't strep, I saw a doctor who told me to do that. 1 is for inflammation and 1 is for pain relief. It's worked every time I've had similar pain and doesn't cause me to haunt my own apartment late at night.
