Retro (Vintage) Halloween Costumes

When I was a kid, I always wanted the plastic face mask and plastic garbage bag overshirt halloween costume of popular tv and movies that were for sale in the department stores. Alas, my family could not afford to waste that much money so I had to ransack my Mother's closet and an old steamer trunk full of things saved from the 1950s and '60s. I was forced to use my imagination to be creative and original.
This website brings back all the disappointment I felt as a kid of not getting a cheap, lame premade costume.

Those costumes were overrated. I looked at them every year, too, and the two or three times I actually got one, I was (being a tried-and-true geek, even then) devastated at the inaccuracies. A half-Vader mask that you could see my eyes through? A yellow block-font "BATMAN" in the middle of the black bat on the chest logo? This would never do. I went with home made costumes after that. WOn a prize in Grade 5 for my Snow Trooper (Empire) costume.
