School starts in less than a month. I just received my book and equipment list. I have to buy a uniform. Me, in a uniform. I'm thinking of dying my hair hot pink or candy apple red again just to fight the conformity. I even have to remove all visible piercings while in lab. That's 12 different rings to take out. That'll be annoying.
I can't wait to start though. I'm hoping my instructors have a sense of humour and while expecting you to be good and serious about what you are doing, allow you to have fun with it. I just read there is a class for making gingerbread houses. Hello gingerbread Invader Zim's house or the Hall of Justice from JLA. I could even do a traditional looking Victorian/Georgian Gingerbread house but actually make the Addams family house. Oh, the evil possibilities!
Working at the store is still a pleasure. Sure, there are really dull moments and the very occasional annoying customer but they are still rare, thankfully. My co-workers are great people. I'm starting to recognize regulars and am retaining product knowledge enough to recommend things. I am still spending too much money at the store, picking up the odd little thing here and there. It's going to be bad at Christmas when the really nifty cake pans and stuff come out. We have some great cookie cutters and decorative items I really really want. Halloween will also be difficult. The problem with working around high end things is, after a while, you accept the price for that item and are willing to pay it rather than buy a cheaper, less well made item. Yes, I really do want a $300 enameled cast iron Le Creuset casserole and a $125 All-Clad stainless steel skillet.
We've not seen all that many movies in theatre, the last few were Transformers (meh), Live Free or Die Hard (funny and totally over the top) and Sunshine (almost good but just missed the mark) but have downloaded a lot. The next movie on our to see list is the latest Bourne movie. We've been enjoying the TV show "John from Cincinnati" quite a bit and the BBC miniseries "Jekyll." Our latest anime is "Darker than Black." I discovered if I feed TBIT half a bottle of wine on a hot day, he'll watch my guilty pleasure "So You Think You Can Dance" with me.
I hate this. I started typing with an objective in mind and have lost it. Oh well. I'll be posting again.
